1. Introduction

My Everyday Journal is a product of Upstream Partners, LLC. My Everyday Journal ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application ("App").

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

We collect information that you voluntarily provide when using the App, including:

  • Food and nutrition data: Food entries, meal times, macronutrient values, serving sizes, and other dietary information you log
  • Goals and preferences: Daily nutrition goals, meal time preferences, custom food items, and app settings
  • Contact information: Email address if you contact us for support or sign up for notifications

Health-Related Data: The food and nutrition data you enter may be considered health-related information. This data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly export and share it. You maintain full control over this data.

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

We do not automatically collect any data. The App operates entirely on your device without transmitting data to our servers. We do not use analytics services, crash reporting tools, or any other tracking technologies.

3. How We Use Your Information

All data processing happens locally on your device. We use your information to:

  • Store your food entries and nutrition data on your device
  • Generate reports, summaries, and insights about your dietary intake
  • Display progress toward your nutrition goals
  • Send you local reminder notifications (if you enable them)
  • Respond to your support requests if you contact us

Note: We do not transmit your food or health data to any server. All features work offline.

4. Data Storage

Local Storage Only: Your food entries, nutrition data, and app preferences are stored exclusively on your device using a local SQLite database. This data is never transmitted to our servers.

Device Backups: Your device's automatic backup feature (iCloud on iOS, Google Backup on Android) may include your app data. This is controlled by your device settings, not by the App. If you prefer your journal data not be included in cloud backups, you can disable app backup in your device's backup settings.

Export Functions: You can export your data in two ways:

  • JSON export: For backup and data portability
  • PDF reports: Weekly summaries you can share with healthcare providers

You control when and with whom you share exported data. We recommend sharing only with trusted recipients.

Import Function: You can import previously exported JSON data back into the App.

5. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not share your data. Since all data is stored locally on your device and we do not operate servers that collect your information, there is nothing for us to share.

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

The only ways your data leaves your device:

  • Device backups: If enabled in your device settings (iCloud/Google Backup)
  • Your exports: When you explicitly export data (JSON or PDF) and choose to share it
  • Your communications: If you email us for support, we receive what you send

We do not use third-party analytics, advertising networks, or data brokers.

6. Data Security

Your data security depends primarily on your device security, since all data is stored locally. We recommend:

  • Using a device passcode, PIN, or biometric lock
  • Keeping your device's operating system updated
  • Being careful with exported files containing your diet data
  • Only sharing PDF reports with trusted healthcare providers

The App stores data using your device's standard local storage mechanisms. Data is not encrypted at rest beyond what your device's operating system provides.

7. Data Retention

Your data is stored on your device indefinitely until you choose to delete it. You can delete individual entries, clear all data, or uninstall the App at any time. Uninstalling the App will remove all locally stored data from your device.

8. Your Privacy Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: View all data stored in the App at any time
  • Export: Export your data to a file for backup or transfer purposes
  • Delete: Delete individual entries or all data from the App
  • Opt-out: Unsubscribe from email notifications at any time

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete such information.

10. Third-Party Services

The App does not integrate with third-party services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks. The App operates entirely offline and does not connect to external services.

The App is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Those platforms have their own privacy policies that govern their services.

11. International Data Transfers

Since all your data is stored locally on your device, there are no international data transfers. Your data stays on your device regardless of where you are located.

If you contact us for support via email, your communication may be processed in the United States.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:

  • Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
  • Posting a notice in the App (for significant changes)
  • Sending you an email notification (if you provided your email address)

Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

13. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect and how it is used
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Opt-out of the sale of your personal information (we do not sell personal information)
  • Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

14. App Store Privacy Declarations

For transparency, here is what we declare to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store:

Data Not Collected

We do not collect any of the following data types:

  • Location data
  • Contact information (except if you email us)
  • Identifiers (device IDs, advertising IDs)
  • Usage data or analytics
  • Diagnostics or crash logs
  • Financial information
  • Browsing history

Data Stored On Device Only

  • Health & Fitness: Food entries and nutrition tracking data — stored locally, never transmitted
  • User Content: Custom food items and notes — stored locally, never transmitted

Data Handling Summary

  • Data is NOT shared with third parties
  • Data is NOT used for tracking
  • Data is NOT linked to your identity
  • Data can be deleted by uninstalling the app
